The article presents the biography of Aleksei Stepanovich Emel’yanov, identifi es the key areas of his research, refl ects the work on the survey of livestock in the areas of activity of breeding nurseries he studied in the vast territory of the North-West of Russia, on feeding and fodder production. The paper shows the results of individual experiments, focuses on the most important issues studied by A.S.
