The key directions of scientific and production activity and the structure of land use of the RUSE “Grodno Zonal Institute of Plant Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” are presented. The main areas in the institute’s production crops are perennial grasses, industrial and winter crops. Technological measures for the creation and use of seedlings of perennial grasses are aimed at obtaining a positive economic effect already at the stage of seed production. Significant attention is paid to site preparation, where the mandatory application of glyphosate-containing preparations is carried out. In order to obtain a rationed seed herbage, seed sowing of perennial grasses is carried out in a coverless way in spring or early summer time. Sowing after early harvested crops for grain or grain haylage is also practiced. Control of weeds in grass crops is carried out by applying preparations containing 2-EGE 2,4-D acid + florasulam as an active substance, and in legumes – imazamox. When applying herbicides of continuous action before sowing grass, and the above-mentioned preparations in the year of sowing there is no need to conduct weed control during the next two years of the life of the herbage. Harvesting of seed crops of perennial grasses is carried out by direct harvesting with pre-desiccation of leguminous grasses
